DAY 7 | Laodeceans | Puke . Vomit . Spue
[Download PDF for your study binder]
Where do you stand? Hot? Cold? Have all your needs met that you no longer need the LORD? Do you have plenty in the bank? in the pantry? in friends?
Are you increased with goods and have need of nothing???
Then BEWARE!
You could be in danger of being spue out of the mouth of the LORD himself.
We've been looking at each of the seven churches written to in Revelation chapters 2 and 3. DAY 7 brings the very stern warning to all those who have looked at the previous days and thought ... 'well, I'm ok..that's not me...I'm doing ok.. I've got my health..I've got a good job...I've got this..'
The resounding chorus of the church today is ... I'm blessed, I'm blessed, I'm blessed .. I have my desires, I'm accomplishing my goals, and now I shall take my ease (aka retire). In a lot of cases, these Laodicean folks even give God some of the credit for their plenty. Don't get me wrong -- the LORD does bless, provide, and gives you ease. HOWEVER, when the goal is stuff and you get your stuff, your goal is not the LORD-- even if you say the words "God is good..God is good to me.or .thank God".
Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
But you see, the LORD Jesus .. the Amen .. the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God .. said ... I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. What is he talking about?? Is this climate control?
It is the final warning to the church -- BE ZEALOUS! and Repent. What do you stand for? This has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS!
Too many folks put their head down and act like those see, hear, and speak monkeys. They don't want to stir anyone up, that don't want to rock the boat, they don't want to lose their job, they don't want to hear any bad news, they just want serenity -- quiet gentle breezes blowing without any struggle, strife, or agitation.
Jesus is talking about your walk, your life with him. If you are born again unto the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, then you are the church and this is written to you.
After reading these two chapters, it would seem that we should never get comfortable in our walk with the LORD. We should be always talking to the LORD, especially having ears to hear the Spirit is saying to the church.
The Bible uses the word LUKEWARM .. what does that mean?
DEFINE these words:
- LUKEWARM
- APATHETIC
- LAZY
- COMFORTABLE
- ZEALOUS
- EASE
- HOT
- COLD
- CONVICTION
- VALOR
- WHIMPISH
Remember on DAY 4 we looked at Ephesians 6: 10-17 and this word STAND was used several times--What does it mean to stand? ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
WRITE OUT :
- I Corinthians 16:13
- Revelation 3:19
I suppose, for me this final day of our End Times Boot Camp solidifies my own stance in the LORD and in his ways. I will not go down quiet. I will go pointing people to the ONLY way, truth, and life and his name is JESUS Christ. I will be zealous for God. If people choose to walk away from me, I'll keep praying, if people want me to leave them alone, I'll keep praying, and if people want to say of me that they get stirred up and have to now deal with stuff -- then so be it -- I will keep praying for them.
I suppose I've never played that game very well. It's because this is about eternity. This is about heaven and hell. A very real hell that many many will be thrown into. I didn't write that -- God did. He also wrote about his mercy, tenderkindness, and the blood of the precious Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world.
I feel like Joshua.. You can choose yourself as god, your stuff, your goals, or the gods of this world, As for me and my house, we will choose the LORD : zealously!
Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD. -Joshua 24:14-15
Jesus wants you to be hot or cold -- if you are lukewarm -- you are puke!
