Join Me for a New Study

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.  -Ecclesiates 12:13

John Bunyan (28 November 1628 – 31 August 1688) was an English Christian writer and preacher, who is well-known for his book The Pilgrim's Progress.

Have you heard of this author?  I knew about his book, The Pilgrim's Progress, many many years ago but actually only really read it for the first time in 2014.  WOW!  Such an amazing book.

I started reading John Buyan's Treatise on the Fear of God.  Again, WOW!  This is where I begin a new study: a study of the Fear of God.

If you would like to join me on this study, simply download this PDF copy.  (I like to print mine out.  'Cause I like to write on the pages, make notes, highlights, and reminders)

This study is to direct us to God...to be a doer of his word as obedient children of the Most High God.

The cover page of this great work starts as follows:
A TREATISE OF THE FEAR OF GOD;
SHOWING
WHAT IT IS, AND HOW DISTINGUISHED FROM THAT WHICH IS NOT SO.
ALSO, WHENCE IT COMES; WHO HAS IT; WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS; AND WHAT

THE PRIVILEGES OF THOSE THAT HAVE IT IN THEIR HEARTS.

Personally, I'm ready for truth. I've seen (and been nearly seduced by) teachers that tickle the ear.   In these last days, Scripture tells us in II Timothy 3:1-4, that men will be lovers of self more than lovers of God.  Jesus told us over and over (from his own mouth) to BEWARE, to WATCH, to PRAY because false teachers will increase. (especially in Matthew 24

How can one know what is truth if one does not read the scriptures?

John Bunyan loved God AND his written word above his own life; so much so he refused to stop preaching it or talking about it.. to anyone.  And for that reason he went to prison.  Just like Paul and many other true Christians have throughout the ages.

Do we love our job security more? our reputation? our standing in the local church? are we willing to be shunned for actually READING, BELIEVING, and DOING the written word of God?

I say that, because today's "Christian" teachers are full of compromise and lies.  They lack the fear of God that is essential for all true Christians especially in these last days.

Dear Reader, ask the Holy Spirit of God to lead you into all truth.  And then have the willingness to obey the Word of God at all costs.  Jesus said, his disciples are to forsake all and follow him. If we love him, we will obey him.  Jesus said seven times in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 -- Let him that hath ears to hear, hear what the Spirit saith.

Have an "Ah-ha" moment?  Something the LORD has opened your eyes to in the scriptures?  Leave your comment below.  Be kind.  Here, we all are learning, growing, and endeavoring to walk by faith through Jesus Christ our Saviour.

  1. This is a time for us to assess what we believe, why we believe it, and how we shall live it out.
A lesson my husband and I have learned over the past two decades has been to filter everything through the Word, through the Holy Spirit...because man is flawed, and there is no teacher on earth, not one, who is perfect or preaches a 100% sound doctrine.
So getting back to basics, letting the Word take hold and guide us each and every day, is the only path we want to follow.
I'll join along with your study as time allows, Cristina, and have downloaded the book. Bless you sweet sister in Christ! x
