A Reminder to Pray

Men ought always to pray; and faint not. -Luke 18:1

This is the admonition and instruction of our LORD Jesus Christ for us in these last days.  The other morning, in my quiet time with the LORD, I was reading Luke chapter 18 and the LORD showed me several points to follow and keep my own heart humble before him.

I'll pass that on to you:

  1. Men ought always to pray and FAINT NOT.  This is a strengthen verse for me.  Why? Because the Lord doesn't EVER give us an instruction that we wouldn't be able to do. It seems lately that we've been up against more 'stuff' in our lives.  Situations that try men's hearts, that cause us to either despair or run to Jesus for answers.  We can understand better why Jesus spoke these words for us.
  2. Cry unto the LORD day and night. Praying today requires diligence and perseverance. Praying has been essential to a Christian's livelihood for all time .. yet the urgency has increased the closer we are to the LORD's return.
  3. Be Humble! for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted. We've been taking a serious look at this as we are studying the Fear of God. (You can study with us: look at the Resource tab)
  4. Forsake ALL and follow Jesus.  It is just that.  No longer holding on to what we think is dear to our heart at the expense of our relationship with the LORD.  Making the LORD our NUMBER ONE priority.  No compromise in decisions, actions, or activities even if it costs us the loss of work, relationships, or our own happiness.
  5. Call upon the mercy of the LORD -- Hope in His mercy!  [Mercy] That benevolence, mildness or tenderness of heart which disposes a person to overlook injuries, or to treat an offender better than he deserves; the disposition that tempers justice, and induces an injured person to forgive trespasses and injuries, and to forbear punishment, or inflict less than law or justice will warrant. Psalm 103
  6. Glorify GOD and PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  I Thessalonians 5:18
Keep  your eyes on the LORD -- He will sustain you! He will strengthen you! He is your joy!
