As I was writing lesson #13, I found this really great sermon by David Wilkerson titled: The Mind of Christ.
I was so pleased to hear confirmation to what I have been learning about the fear of God and humility of mind.
We are so bombarded with the way that the world "does life" that we can easily forget that we are not to walk after the flesh but after the spirit. (Galatians 5)
When was the last time we were so hungry for the things of God that we sought God's face, searched the Scripture, and actually did what Jesus did??
What ARE the things of God?? Church society has led many astray by saying 'the things of God' is serving the local pastor and the local church club. I'm going to step on toes here, but really, people where is that exactly in scripture? To help the local pastor get richer? To help the church club members feel more happy in their waywardness and sin?
What did Jesus teach us? We should read again Matthew 25:35-46
James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
In the culture today, people are more concerned with looking good in front of their group, of achieving lofty goals full of materialism and calling it wisdom.
Jesus MADE HIMSELF A SERVANT. Not the 'top-dog', not the key note speaker, not the one of Forbes top 10 businessmen..Not a mega-church pastor...Why, O why, do we get duped into thinking that having a High Mind is somehow ok with the LORD?
When we read the Scripture of Psalm 27:8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek. Do we disregard the LORD? Do we think little of his written word?
For me, this lesson reassures me that to have one foot in the world is not fearing God. The whole mind over matter, believe what you want to have and make it happen,.. or for the churchy-club .. just have enough faith to get what you want .. is just a mindset that says 'I want my home here on earth, with the things of this world, and a cherry on top..thank you very much'
This earth and things of this world are not my home. My heart belongs to God and he lives in heaven .. that is where my treasure is. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:2-3
AND the Lord does speak straightforward about storing up treasure where moth and rust can destroy. Yet, many ignorant Christians store up stuff for "just in case" and think that's ok.
In these last days, ONLY complete trust in the LORD Jesus Christ the only begotten son of the Father will save you. No amount of savings, real-estate, food, legacy, reputation, or off-the-grid living will keep you from the wrath of God that is to be poured out.
Are you ready? The Antichrist will cause all -- great or small -- to receive the mark... if you don't - off with your head! (Revelation 13:15-17) That time is fast approaching. Even the heathen are gearing up for the mark and boldly talking about it.
There's no time to feel warm and cozy, there's no time to waste, Jesus is coming soon to catch away his ready spotless Bride...Are you ready? Are you keeping yourself unspotted from the world?
I know that my posts are pretty hard hitting. Tough, maybe, but there is such a need for urgency. Whether Jesus comes to catch his Bride away today or next week, we don't know exactly. What we do know is that time is running out to be ready. 'The ready' that the Bible speaks of...ready for our LORD and Saviour. Not the prepper ready that want to attempt to survive the wrath of God. I mean, really? You can outwit God? He is the one who wrote of these things that are to come. AND God is faithful to ALL OF HIS WORD. Not just the nice, easy to swallow, nicey-nicey promises but also those concerning end times.
Back to humility of mind, not thinking more highly of ourself than we ought. The "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" scripture verse is SO misused. This scripture is not help us get ahead in this world, but rather to be equipped to OBEY GOD just like Jesus obeyed his heavenly Father.
Last thing: Well, I was going to type it all out here but you should get out your hard copy of the Bible and read for yourself --Mark 10:17-27. Ask the Lord to open your eyes to what HE wants to say to you. Not another's opinion of these verses, but the truth of God's word.
What is eternal life?? Answer found in John 17:1-3
